It’s Valentine’s Day again!
And Valentine’s Day is gone again. Another year.
Another year where I can pitch my Valentine’s card game. And what better way to express your love for someone than a fly-through-the-hoops video game?
Go play it Here. It only works for WebGL-enabled browsers.
The premise of this year’s program is that you fly an airplane through some heart-shaped hoops. The hoops are arranged such that if you fly through them perfectly, it creates a name with a heart around it.

The party is at my place on Friday!
Although through a series of unfortunate events I don’t actually have any of these, so it’s BYOGCCF. I do have root beer and vodka, though, which can be used for parties. I’m not sharing the root beer.
I have found the worst case scenario for convergent algorithms, courtesy of Wikipedia:
Found that on the Wikipedia page about convergent square root algorithms.
I would be remiss to not mention that Lupercalia is this coming weekend (Thursday through Saturday), and as I lead a busy life I will simply leave you with a picture from a development version of this year’s Valentine’s day app:

So, no snow today. However, power outages today. At least we get that part of a snow storm?
But, for my CS class (“Data Structures and Algorithms”), we have to write a program that does some trivial manipulations with baby name popularity records for the past 100 years. One part of the assignment is, and I quote:
“implement a method of your own that checks for names that meet some criteria of your own design.

Sorry for the late post. A lot of stuff going on in my life.
I live in Austin, in case you didn’t already know that.
And we got snow last Friday. Not only was school canceled but I spent the morning having a snowball fight with my siblings.
“Snowball fight” is a relative term. The snow was more of a white coating than actual snow, so most of the “fight” was us scraping large patches of driveway to get enough snow to coalesce into a snowball.

Woah, totally wrote this Monday night and then forgot to publish it 😛
I have pictures of the 3d-printed house:
They’re a little bit grainy because I took these pictures with my iPad camera, which can be a little iffy at times. Especially in low light, like my office.
The other thing I’ve wanted to mention is that I’ve released Infoggle. I would say that it’s been a long time in the making, but it really hasn’t - it only took a few weeks to make, but it’s been unreleased for well over a month now.

Everything in my life was fine and dandy. And then Windows came along and ruined everything.
All I did was restart my laptop last Sunday, and Windows decided that it needed to scribble all over my hard disk. I was using my laptop as a primary computer, and have been for many months now, because Mars’ power supply died.
I never setup backups for my laptop, because Mars was always the one I did my important work on.

…. A partridge in a pear tree.
At least, according to Halliwell in 1842. Wikipedia lists 10 different variants of the song, of which two are from “true-love” (hyphenated), one is from the mother, and the rest are from “my true love” (no hyphen). I personally go with Halliwell’s 1853 version, which has no hyphens, is from my true love, and the fourth item is four “Colly birds.”
Now that that’s been settled, 2013’s going to be over on Wednesday, which means I need a new New Year’s resolution.

So, my Dad ordered a part from Cubify. He expected it to be in centimeters but it came out in inches - Now he has 2” custom dice.
I also ordered a part from them, and I’m shooting for millimeters. Hopefully they don’t convert that to inches, or I’ll end up with a very large part…
Okay, I don’t have much to say today. Next week I’ll have two projects (both secret at the moment) to talk about….

Only seven more semesters to go. 12.5% of the way there.
College has been both fun and stressful so far. One of the things I’ve liked (and taken advantage of) is where my free time is - I essentially spent 17 hours a week in classes, which is less than a half time job, and less than in high school. In high school, when I didn’t show up to class, I failed.

I won’t say that college finals are harder per se than high school finals or college midterms - ask me again in a week and I’ll be able to tell you from personal experience.
But I will say that they are more stressful than I had anticipated, so my post for last weekend shall be:
OH GOD FINALS.
