So, as part of my work down at iPlay4e, I managed to cut their costs by a very large portion. I won’t say how much, but I will say that we aren’t losing money any more.
And, speaking of trade secrets (not really), today marks the first weekend day where I get to work on my electric meter project. The aim of the project is to record and graph the electricity the Pillow house uses.

It’s a New Year! Yes, I know that happened 35 days ago. We aren’t even 10% into the new year yet - and I’ve already broken my New Year’s resolution to write a blog post monthly.
Speaking of which, I suppose that means that I should have some sort of new year resolutions. I resolve to find the time to make some…
… Right after I’m passing all my classes. The only reason I wasn’t taking notes in History was because I was logged into my house through my SSH-over-HTTPS connection so that I could upload 1.

Speed. I am speed.
Four robots. Three minutes. One winner. The goal: Score styrofoam balls and tennis balls into wooden scoring areas. First match. Putting the robot on the field… We ask: Will the robot fit in the prescribed starting box?
Three weeks of practice and six weeks of building culminate today, in the next three minutes. I’ve practiced ruthlessly, yet my hands. I have no choice but to focus on the match ahead and calm myself - I give the referee thumbs up and the match starts.

So, the six week build period for robotics finally culminated four weeks ago at competition. Oh boy, interesting times. I ended up being selected as a driver for the robot, so I got the wrong end of stress. I suppose I shouldn’t really be complaining - Our spotter showed up at every single match, while we had five different drivers to spread the driving load on.
And that is why I haven’t posted in well over a month.

Houston, we have SSTV.
The Hamateur Radio Club at my High School is looking into doing Slow Scan TeleVision (SSTV). SSTV is a way to transfer images using sound data - in fact, it uses the same frequency bands as human voices and car alarms.
As such, I downloaded some Windows program and set to work testing it. I don’t have my ham license yet, so since it works on sound, I played the signal through my speakers on one computer and picked it up on the other end of the room with my microphones.

Well, I don’t have much in the way of projects. There’s a few smaller ones lying around, though.
For my Amateur Radio class we’re setting up a ham band wireless mesh network (Check it out at http://hsmm-mesh.org/). Does anyone have a Linksys WRT54L (version 4 or earlier) I can borrow indefinitely?
For the robotics team I’m lending a hand to fix up a couple of scripts (including a WP plugin for logging hours).

The other day a friend of mine pointed out that I tend to park about a foot into the sidewalk. She continued to point out that other students at my high school will kick my beautiful car as they walk past. I suppose that would explain all of the nicks in my paint, but there are no real dents. (except where I hit that pole…) So I decided to make a sensor to detect when I’ve parked close enough to the curb.

Some time ago, a link down here was created. Don’t know who, or when, but the spambots managed to find me.
One person really enjoyed the modern design (which is the WordPress default), and he were pleased with the content on this perfect blog.
Another person vaguely commented on the Great Related Information! She has been hunting for everything similar to this. She didn’t say why she’s looking for documentation on an internal tool.

So now that I’ve (theoretically) stopped working, life has become… different. First thing I did was, of course, call AT&T to beg and plead them into unblocking port 25 so that I could setup a mail server. No luck, of course. And it isn’t worth paying them money, either - the person on the live chat was more than happy to give me their higher-level tech support that, if I gave them money, *might* unblock port 25 if I upgraded plans, etc.
